NGC 2264 – Christmas Tree Cluster

The Christmas Tree Cluster is located 2,500 light years from Earth in the constellation Monoceros. The dark cloud, the Cone Nebula, is particularly striking. This H-II region is characterized by beautiful dust bands and fine structures. The objects together are known as NGC 2264, an active star-forming region.

Der Weihnachtsbaum Sternhaufen ist 2500 Lj von der Erde entfernt und befindet sich im Sternbild Einhorn. Besonders auffällig ist die Dunkelwolke, der Konus Nebel. Diese H-II Region zeichnet sich durch schöne Staubbänder und feine Strukturen aus. Die Objekte zusammen werden als NGC 2264 bezeichnet, ein aktives Sternentstehungsgebiet.

Processing

The color information for the stars was recorded with the TS-OPTICS 76EDPH at 342mm focal length and F4.5. Narrowband data with RASA 11“ V2 at 620mm focal length and F2.2
