IC 443 – Jellyfish Nebula

IC 443, also known as the Jellyfish Nebula, is a supernova remnant in the constellation Gemini, located about 5,000 light-years from Earth. It was formed when a massive star exploded roughly 5,000 to 10,000 years ago. Today, we see the expanding shock waves and the glowing, turbulent gas from this tremendous stellar explosion.

IC 443, auch Quallen-Nebel, ist ein Supernova-Überrest im Sternbild Zwillinge und rund 5.000 Lichtjahre von der Erde entfernt. Er entstand, als ein massereicher Stern vor etwa 5.000 bis 10.000 Jahren explodierte. Heute sehen wir die sich ausbreitenden Schockwellen und das leuchtende, aufgewühlte Gas dieser gewaltigen Sternenexplosion.
